![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Combining interdisciplinary scholarship, political reportage, and personal reflection, this work sheds powerful light on the forces underlying the stark social and economic circumstances facing African Americans today, as well as the need for cautious optimism alongside sober analysis. Dean Lang joined Penn State from the University of Kansas (KU), where he was Dean’s Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the departments of African and African-American Studies. The book argues that a reassessment of the Sixties and its legacies is necessary to make better sense of black community, leadership, politics, and the prospects for social change today. Clarence Lang began his tenure as Susan Welch Dean of the College of the Liberal Arts and professor of African American studies on July 1, 2019. ![]() Neoliberalism, which rejects social welfare protections in favor of individual liberty, unfettered markets, and a laissez-faire national state, has produced an environment in which people of color struggle with unstable employment, declining family income, rising household debt, increased class stratification, and heightened racial terrorism and imprisonment. While Americans celebrate the current anniversaries of various black freedom milestones and the election of the first black president, the effects of neoliberalism since the 1970s have been particularly devastating to African Americans. The 1960s, including the black social movements of the period, are an obstacle to understanding the current conditions of African Americans, argues Clarence Lang. ![]() ![]() Poppy and Casteel must consider the impossible-travel to the Lands of the Gods and wake the King himself. And also I think its a YA Fantasy so I understand, a little warning would be nice for young and sensitive readers. It was written beautifully that its not even uncomfortable to read. And that beach scene between Rowan and Aelin it wasn't even THAT explicit. And besides there's not much of sex scenes anyway. It was never really centered to heavily romance plot so sex scenes are quite ahmmm. From the very beginning to the last its all about adventure and powers and killings and surviving etc. ![]() ![]() However, I believe that TOG books are a different kind of books. It actually add some spice and thrill for me. I'm not against sex scenes or how explicit it maybe. Damn I am soooo late to this discussion LOL but whatever, this is my thoughts anyway. ![]() ![]() ![]() You are buying them exactly as I purchased them.
